This song came up on my iPod the other day, reminding me how much I enjoy it. The song is melancholy, and while I’ve never delved into the lyrics to try and understand it’s meaning, it seemed safe to assume it came from a dark place. Well, I found the video today. Dark is a shallow but quite apt assessment.

The band is a duo of American singer Alison Mosshart and British guitarist Jamie Hince. Much of their sound falls into the garage rock spectrum, but this one, Black Balloon brings a quieter tone to their sound. This video, directed by Kenneth Cappello, was released in December 2008, though the song itself wasn’t released until 2009. The duo has released 4 albums, the last in 2011.
