I get why people enjoy snow globes. I thought they were magical as a kid, but like lava lamps and the etch-a-sketch, I lost interest once I knew how they worked. I still think they’re pretty – sometimes, but I wouldn’t fill my house with them. My cats would break them for fun if I did.
This “No Globe” was created by the group Dorothy as a commission for a non-profit groupĀ in advance of the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen. The work was created to draw attention to new construction of coal burning power plants in the UK; the first plants of their type to be built there in 30 years. Coal mining and burning is one of the biggest sources of pollution world wide.
This globe is one of a limited edition of 2. If you were hoping to buy one for a friend to add to their collection, there is only one left and I’m guessing it’s expensive.
