A Miniature World

French artist Charles Matton, like many creative types, has worked in many fields. He painted during his early years, including some work for Esquire. He moved onto set design for the theatre and eventually to working in films for notable directors like Jean Luc Goddard.

Given his work history, it is no wonder he has the technical skills to create these miniature rooms. The rooms are sets really – a scene that has a story without any characters. The level of detail is impressive – grout in the bathroom tiles yellowed, shadows of old frames on the bedroom walls. While these wouldn’t be a doll house for most girls, I would have enjoyed creating stories about these spaces. In fact, I’d like to do that today. He places real eyeglasses in some of the scenes to provide perspective of the small, boxed worlds he creates. See more at the source link.
